This year the Shoeshop quartet will be holding a singing weekend for those interested in learning how to sing group harmonies, a cappella. The singing weekend will take place at the Academy of Music and Sound. Situated a short walk from the river Tyne in Gateshead, the Academy of Music and Sound has fantastic facilities with large well equipped rooms perfectly set up for the weekend.

We will cover a broad range of repertoire from the more traditional barbershop style, modern popular classics and songs from round the world all done in harmony! Over the course of the weekend there will also be opportunity for participants to develop their knowledge and skills in vocal technique, music reading and musicianship. Please note if you don’t currently read music this is not a problem as we will have a group learning the basics. The weekend will conclude with a performance in a local venue whereby participants will have the opportunity to perform as the support act for the Shoeshop Quartet.

The weekend is open to singers of a range of experience and abilities, however we do ask that singers are able to hold a simple melody and pitch in tune. If you are not sure, drop us an email to discuss!

We have a fantastic chef Pia Castleton who will be providing lunch for us on the Friday and Saturday. Pia specialises in delicious locally sourced wholesome veggie food. Lunch on the Sunday will consist of wood-fired fresh pizza’s and salads. There will also be tea and coffee and cake provided over the weekend.. Singing is of course hungry work!

If you are interested in the weekend and would like to book your place, please email us at for details on how to pay. If you have any questions about the weekend feel free to get in touch!

The cost for the full weekend including lunch is £160 (early bird offer of £145 if booking before May 30th) there will be a maximum of 20 participants attending the weekend. If you have any questions feel free to get in touch.
